The Special Police Officer is responsible for providing protection and security for patients, employees, visitors, hospital buildings, grounds and assets as assigned. A high school level of knowledge is required. Prior security experience is preferred. The SPO will have the ability to utilize card access and other security systems, read and interpret the policies, procedures and regulations of HSC, the Protective Services department and a variety of regulatory agencies. The SPO will have the ability to effectively and diplomatically communicate with people internal and external to the hospital, have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, have the ability to care and be accountable for pagers, 2-way radios, keys and other issued equipment, have the ability to conduct security rounds and inspections inside and outside the hospital in various weather conditions. The Therapist must have a working knowledge of the principles of pediatric recreation therapy, knowledge of growth and development and of diseases and disabilities. The Therapist must also have the ability to work well with others, to communicate well both verbally and in writing. The Nursing Supervisor is a professional Registered Nurse who is responsible for the supervision, direction, and delivery of nursing care on a specific shift. The Nursing Supervisor provides clinical and management advice to all staff members. This individual communicates and collaborates with support services, physicians, and staff members to enhance quality patient care. All efforts are directed toward continuous quality improvement, family-centered care, and good customer relations. The NS serves as the facility manager during non-traditional hours. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by the department of nursing. The NS must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess and analyze data reflective of the patient populations and reflective of the age-specific needs to facilitate nursing care by staff. A graduate from a School of Nursing – BSN and additional credits towards a Master degree is preferred. Five years of experience, of which at least three of those years should be in Pediatrics. At least one year of experience as a charge nurse, supervisor or hold a management position. The Nursing Supervisor assumes responsibility for continued education and maintains skills, demonstrates excellence in Pediatric Nursing, demonstrates leadership ability, the ability to implement administrative and organizational principles, demonstrates ability to implement good interpersonal relations with all members of the hospital staff and demonstrates knowledge of behavior and scientific principles. A current DC RN license, current CPR and PALS certification is required. Membership in a professional organization, certification in Pediatric Nursing, Rehab Nursing and/or Nursing Administration is preferred. The Utilization Review Nurse will be responsible for the clinical review of pediatric and young adult members for all inpatient medical stays, inpatient rehabilitative therapy, and long term care services based on standardized criteria. The UR Nurse will be responsible for both the management of resources and the achievement of desired outcomes for patients with ongoing communication to the Director of Collaborative Care, the Medical Director and staff for the development and coordination of the discharge plan and continued medical management of patients. A BSN is required. One year of experience in utilization management and five years of clinical experience is required, pediatric experience is preferred. Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets, excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills is required. The UR Nurse will have the ability to simultaneously handle multiple complex assignments, have appreciation and sensitivity of cultural diversity, professional decorum, strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
